THE CHAMBERS The strength of Chambers lies in its long history and proven experience in the areas of traditional and commercial chancery. Many members of chambers are recognised as leading practitioners in their fields. Chambers are one of the oldest established sets of barristers’ chambers in Lincoln’s Inn. Chamber’s history is easily traceable since 1893.

WORK UNDERTAKEN
The chambers main practice areas are:

Land & Property Law: Land easements and covenants, mortgages, charges, guarantees and credit arrangements, landlord and tenant including business, agricultural and residential tenancies, housing associations and leasehold enfranchisement, the law of commons, village greens and open spaces, stamp duty land tax.

Private Client Law: Charities, Court of Protection, revenue including income tax, capital gains tax, corporation tax, value added tax, inheritance tax and SDLT, also trusts, settlements and wills, probate, administration of estates and family provision.

Insolvency & Company Law: Personal and corporate insolvency, companies and partnerships including share holders and partners’ actions, minority rights, directors’ duties, internal disputes and company acquisitions, confiscation and asset recovery.

Business, Financial & Commercial Law: Injunctions and other equitable remedies, fraud, conspiracy, mistake, misrepresentation, constructive trusts, tracing and restitution, securities regulation including share and other investment transactions, investor protection, regulation of financial services, market abuse and insider dealing, contract and commercial, banking, professional negligence, conflict of laws, judicial review, employment law, confidential information, covenants restraining business activity or employment, intellectual property, passing off, construction and building contracts and arbitrational ADR.

INTERNATIONAL 9 Stone Buildings has an abundance of expertise and experience in foreign jurisdictions and international law. Chambers has members who regularly act as advocates or advisers in SE Asia including China, the Caribbean (particularly the Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands. North America and Europe (particularly Gibraltar, the Bahamas, Switzerland and Dubai). Some members are regularly instructed in the UK off shore jurisdictions of the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. 9 Stone Buildings is considerably strengthened in this area by its overseas members who, as well as being members of the English Bar, are leading practitioners in their jurisdictions: Nicholas Critelli, a trial attorney in the states of Iowa and New York, a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court and former Chair of the Iowa Bar Association (2004); James Levy KC and Gilbert Licudi KC are partners in the internationally known law firm of Hasans in Gibraltar. Dr Raymond Ashton is a member of the English and Irish Bar and a Guernsey Advocate. He is also a chartered accountant.
