Colin Edelman KC retired from practice as a barrister at the end of 2022 and now acts as an arbitrator in commercial disputes, particularly in the fields of insurance, reinsurance, professional negligence, and energy.
When in practice as a barrister, he acted in high value complex commercial disputes with an emphasis on insurance, reinsurance, professional negligence, and energy. Key recent cases include Supreme Court - R&S Pilling v UK Insurance, Travelers v XYZ; Court of Appeal - Equitas v Municipal Mutual; Commercial Court – Catlin v Weyerhaeuser. Most recently he acted for the FCA in the Commercial Court and Supreme Court in the Covid Business Interruption Insurance Test Case.
He is currently acting as an arbitrator in a number of high value commercial arbitrations.
He has previously been voted Insurance Silk of the Year on a number of occasions and Professional Negligence Silk of the Year and this year (2023) is to receive the Chambers & Partners Lifetime Achievement Award.
