GORDON TODD, a trial lawyer, has represented plaintiffs and defendants before numerous judicial and administrative tribunals in high stakes litigation. Gordon chairs Sidley’s Regulatory Litigation practice, which represents clients in disputes over rulemakings, government-facing civil litigation, and commercial litigation in highly-regulated industries. Gordon co-leads the Firm’s First Amendment practice, including Sidley’s partnership with Yale Law School’s free exercise appellate clinic. Gordon also teaches trial practice as a faculty member with NITA’s annual trial advocacy program at Georgetown Law. Prior to joining Sidley, Gordon served as a Deputy Associate Attorney General at the United States Department of Justice. In that capacity Gordon helped manage civil, civil rights, and tax litigation, as well as the Office of Justice Programs and the Office on Violence Against Women. Also at the Department of Justice, Gordon previously served as Special Counsel for Supreme Court Nominations, providing support for several Supreme Court confirmation processes. Gordon graduated from Princeton University and UVA law school, and was a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito and to Eighth Circuit Judge C. Arlen Beam.
