Practice Areas
Pritesh Rathod is a sought after barrister who specialises in clinical negligence work. He regularly appears in the High Court and County Courts in a wide range of hearings, with a particular strength in trials and appeals. He represents both claimants and defendants. His experience ranges from low value claims to multi-million pound claims and across the full range of medical specialisms.
Inquests also feature heavily in his practice, where he acts for families, NHS Trusts, care homes and individual doctors. His cases tend to relate to medical care and often feature in the local or national media. In 2023, Pritesh represented the family of Rohan Godhania, a 16 year old boy who died from a rare urea cycle disorder after consuming a protein shake, where the Coroner found that there was a lost opportunity to render further medical treatment that may have prevented Rohan's death.
Pritesh's medical law experience has led to him authoring a chapter in Clinical Guidelines and the Law of Medical Negligence (2021, Edward Elgar Publishing), where he provides a barrister's perspective on the use of clinical guidelines in clinical negligence litigation as part of a multidisciplinary review of the subject. Pritesh has also contributed to The Inquest Casebook, writing about funding and costs in inquest proceedings.
Pritesh brings his medical law experience (and his experience as a former tennis official) to sports law cases. His experience includes advising on disputes between athletes and their governing bodies and personal injury and/or clinical negligence cases arising out of sporting injuries. He is a member of Sports Resolution’s pro bono panel of lawyers.
