Alexandre Sion

Career

Alexandre Sion is the founding partner of Sion Advogados. He is a postdoctoral candidate at the University of Salamanca, Spain (title pending PhD completion), and a PhD candidate at Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, Portugal (credits completed). He has an LLM in international commercial law (University of California, US), specialist in constitutional law, postgraduate degrees in civil law and civil procedure law from FGV, Brazil, and bachelor degrees in law and in business administration. Alexandre Sion was a legal counsel at several large mining companies. Alexandre Sion was a lawyer for several cases involving Environmental Law.

He is the president of the Brazilian Association of Energy and Environmental Law – ABDEM. He is member of the Director Council of ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability. He is a Consultant Member of the Special Commission on Infrastructure Law. Alexandre Sion is the cofounder and he was the first vice president of the Brazilian Union for Environmental Advocacy (UBAA). Member of the Environmental Law Commission of IAB - Brazilian Lawyers Institute. He was a consultant at the National Commission of Environmental Law of Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) and is currently president of the Commission of Infrastructure of the Brazilian Bar Association in the state of Minas Gerais. He is or he was a member of the commissions mining law of OAB/MG, permanent environmental law of OAB/SP and environmental law of OAB/SP in Santos.

Professor at PUC/MG and visiting Professor at PUC/RS, CERS, EDB /SP, UFG – Goiás Federal University, UNISANTA, School of Magistracy of Maranhão - ESMAN, Judicial School of Amapá – ESAJ, Instituto Minere, as well as an active lecturer and author of a variety of legal articles. Also, he has been selected as one of the most renowned lawyers by the most relevant national and international guides.
