2020-2022 advising Resolution on the design and introduction of the Resolution Together Scheme. Advising and representing lawyers internationally caught up in sanctions issues. Representing Solicitor Z in stayed proceedings involving NDAs; carrying out an independent investigation into a law firm; successfully representing a leading law firm in an insurance coverage dispute over a £30m claim; advising Suet Fern Lee as to whether the Singapore High Court had made errors of law (opinion published) as to their findings concerning the last will of Lee Kuan Yew, former Prime Minister of Singapore. Advising as to the professional duties of advisers to rights issue.
2019 -2020 leading for the Defendant in the High Court and Court of Appeal in GEHC v Gray (fiduciary duty claims), for City firms and partners in several high profile SRA investigations, for the FRC in the cases against Deloitte arising out of their audits of Autonomy Plc (2019 – leading to a fine of £15m) Aero Inventory Plc (2016), and their financial advice on MG Rover “The Phoenix Four” (2013-2014). Acted in Impact Funding Solutions v AIG in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court (extent of prof indemnity cover), for the SRA in the cases arising out of the Iraq War and Al Sweady Inquiry (SRA v Leigh-Day and others), and in SRA v Spector (open justice principles), the Axiom Fund cases (series of cases with £100m losses from the Fund), and Schubert Murphy v Law Society (duty of care). Enterprise Insurance v Leeds United FC (sponsorship and loan agreements). In 2014-15 acted for the BSB in Lumsdon v LSB and BSB at every level to the UKSC, for four regulators in the UKSC in Hemming v Westminster City Council and in the UKSC for the Appellants/insurers in Coventry v Lawrence, for Gibson Dunn in Republic of Djibouti v Boreh and others (Commercial Court 2015). For Herbert Smith in LUL v Freshfields and Herbert Smith - claim for £140m brought by London Underground (2013). In 2011-2012 acted in JSC Bank v Ablyazov (preserving client's rights of access to solicitors), and acted for the SRA in copyright/file sharing cases. In 2010 led for the FSA in Atlantic Law and Greystoke v FSA (share frauds and boiler rooms), and for the Law Society in the Court of Appeal in Quinn Direct Insurance v The Law Society [2010 EWCA Civ 805].
