Matthew specialises in Property Disputes & Civil Fraud.

Matthew Smith co-founded the Fraud Team at Park Square Barristers and has over 10 years’ experience in this field. He has been a leading figure in building the size and reputation of the PSQB Fraud Team.

Exaggerated claims are his speciality having pioneered the dicta of Ul-Haq, Fairclough as encapsulated now in statute.

Home, travel and general common law fraud are also specialities in Matthew’s armoury given his commercial background having spent a sabbatical in a commercial law firm in NZ.

Matthew has an active interest in CIS litigation involving issues of cross-border fraud. He recently hosted a number of Brazilian delegates in Chambers which included seminars on The Bribery Act culminating in a Mock Trial.
